How to be a bold, innovative thought leader and create DEMAND for your services

The corporate landscape has changed forever as we continue to navigate the fall-out of the pandemic. Leaders are still trying to figure it out as we head “forward” into what is becoming the new normal.

Because of this, there is a HUGE opportunity for you to help your clients navigate this “new normal” AND become a bold, innovative, and leading edge thought leader in your unique area of expertise.

THE SINGLE, BEST STRATEGY I know to be that innovative thought leader and a Go-To Trusted Advisor in the corporate marketplace is to…

GO DIRECTLY TO THE SOURCE and learn from your target clients.

Pick a “juicy” HOT TOPIC that your target clients care most about (and an issue that they are eager to have solved) and write a creative information piece about it.

Interview 10 or more existing clients AND prospects to get their unique insights, perspectives and experiences on your Hot Topic and then write a brilliant thought leadership piece that you can publish and distribute far and wide (and leverage in a big way).

Can it really be that simple? YES, and the benefits to you are huge!

There are multiple pieces of collateral you can create, including (but not limited to):

  • Special Reports
  • Top 10 Best Practices
  • Survey Results
  • Research Papers

This allows you to:

  • Get real-time, hot-off-the-press primary research, insights, experiences, and perspectives from the leaders you most want to serve.
  • Then you can turn that golden information into the most relevant, timely and valuable thought leadership pieces in the marketplace to help solve the challenges they’re facing and want to solve now!
  • Now you’re a force to be reckoned with - the thought leader who is known to distil insights, trends and perspectives from the people who are leading organizations and dealing with significant challenges every day.
  • And now you’ve strategically positioned yourself as THEIR source for solving their most pressing problems.

In doing so, you essentially you become the VOICE of YOUR customer!

As one of my key mentors used to say, “See the People!”

What better way to be relevant and become the Go-To Trusted Advisor of an ever-growing number of ideal corporate clients.

Here is an example of how I created an impactful and relevant thought leadership piece, in partnership with my colleague, Chris McGirr.

When the pandemic first hit, it blindsided everyone. We were all navigating a whole new territory on a global scale.

My community of independent consultants, coaches and small business owners were paralyzed. They didn’t know what to do – contracts were being cancelled, and spending was frozen. The corporate clients they served were scrambling, having to face and deal with unprecedented challenges as the world locked down. And as the pandemic unfolded it became evident that we were in it for the long haul.

That’s what inspired Chris and I to go to corporate leaders on a big scale to get a sense of what was to come and how to help our clients to come to terms with what was unfolding in the corporate marketplace and how they could ‘pivot’ and adapt.

To that end, we developed an insights report called Corporate Predictions 2021: The must-have guide for consultants and small business owners to get in the door and meet the needs of corporate clients in our shifting marketplace

We interviewed over 60 executives and thought leaders on how the corporate marketplace was struggling to adapt in the wake of the pandemic and how they saw the corporate landscape unfolding. Their insights helped us shape our perspective on the burning issues and trends and the report we generated was a huge success and distributed it far and wide.

And guess what? All the predictions came true!

As a result, we generated revenue through 2 new group coaching programs, and doubled my list of followers.

So, you could be wondering, why would corporate leaders want to participate and be interviewed?

What’s in it for your corporate customer?

They’ll want to read your report! Leaders always want to stay abreast of trends, what’s happening in their industry, how they measure up relative to their competition, and how to solve their most pressing challenges. By the way – corporate leaders LOVE sharing their expertise and being quoted. It raises their profile and shows them actively engaging in what’s important.

What’s in it for you? Think about it. This demonstrates you taking bold initiative, original thinking, building your credibility and insights and elevating your brand as a go-to expert and Trusted Advisor to your new and prospective clients.

What’s also exciting is this approach “gets you in the corporate door twice”! First to obtain your research, and then the second time to share your research paper or special report with your target client in a way that’s relevant and will add value. This tactic is also a fresh and innovative way to develop and nurture relationships with corporate leaders that will lead to them KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR and ultimately using your services to solve their problems.
